Frequently asked questions
Here are some common questions about Denise's Commission process.
Commissions typically take between 4 weeks to 2 months to complete. However, for very complex commissions, the timeline may extend significantly. Denise will provide a more accurate time estimate once all the details have been finalized.
When you reach out to Denise, you'll embark on an exciting journey to create a unique piece of art tailored just for you. She will discuss the intricate details of your commission, including the layout, your ideal photograph, and the perfect size to fit your vision. Pricing will be transparently addressed during this conversation, ensuring you have all the information you need. To formalize the process, you'll sign a letter of agreement with Denise that clearly outlines all the terms of your commission.
To get started, a deposit of 50% of the total price is required, allowing Denise to begin crafting your masterpiece.
Next, Denise will create a stunning mock-up of the artwork and share it with you. This is your opportunity to collaborate and discuss any adjustments that may enhance the final piece.
Once you give your whole-hearted approval for the mock-up, Denise will dive into creating the final artwork, pouring her passion and skill into every brushstroke.
After the artwork is complete, Denise will send you a beautiful photograph of it along with the shipping costs, ensuring you know exactly what to expect.
At this stage, the final payment will be due, bringing you one step closer to owning your custom artwork.
Rest assured, the painting will be meticulously packaged with care, ensuring it arrives at your doorstep in pristine condition, ready to be admired.

Commissioned Drawings
Even if you don't have a photograph, a drawing can be created from your memories!

Nona's Hawaii Remembrance
Nona and her husband were in Hawaii, walking on the beach. She didn't have her camera handy when she came across this couple viewing a young pregnant islander with some disdain. What was funny to Nona was that the man's belly was bigger than the young lady's.

Nona's Germany Scene
Nona and her family were traveling in Germany years ago. This woman was talking on her cell phone and paying no attention to what her German Shephard was doing! Nona described the scene to me and requested a pencil rendition of it. I added a little color for emphasis.
